The Arrangement is my first play, written as a submission to the African Women's Playwright Festival 2022. Chosen as one of the 10 winning plays, it was first performed in Accra by students from the University of Ghana and is now published within the anthology Gendering Taboos by Bloomsbury Publishing under Methuen Drama.
First, it's a party. Holding dowry negotiations is play — the best bid wins under the best terms. But terms and conditions must apply. With each miscarriage that the bride goes through, penalties are awarded until the marital arrangement is rendered non-existent.
