Gisemba's lyric piece You Are the Sun opens VOICES: A Sacred Sisterscape, a landmark global audio play produced by V-Day, the activist movement founded by playwright V (formerly Eve Ensler).
Drawn from over 900 submissions by Black women worldwide and directed by Grammy-nominated poet Aja Monét, the project gathered voices across continents into a single, collective utterance. That Gisemba's piece was chosen to open the work and read by renowned Kenyan actress Mumbi Kaigwa placed her voice at the threshold of something much larger than any single contribution.
The audio play was covered on Democracy Now! and nominated for a Webby Award in 2026.
